We recently started a “Back to School Prayer Challenge” using the acronym S.C.H.O.O.L. Today, let’s look at the letter “S”— safety.

Begin by reading the following passage:

“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one” (2 Thess. 3:1–3).

Continue by praying for safety for them as messengers of the gospel:

  • Pray that God will deliver them from people who seek their harm.
  • Pray that God will protect them from roadblocks placed by the Devil.
  • Pray that God will provide favor with teachers and school administrators.

Conclude with any other “safety” related requests that come to mind:

  • Safety traveling to and from school
  • Good health and immunity from sickness/disease
  • Safekeeping and help for students suffering from malnutrition, abusive relationships, or addictions
  • Security for students living in homeless shelters
  • Bullying Issues
  • Peer Pressure
  • Etc.
