This summer, I traveled to the Texas/Mexico border with a group of health care students. I did the ACT111 training before the four-week medical mission trip and felt more prepared than ever to explain the hope and joy that I have. The training showed me how to share the gospel in a clear, concise way and helped clarify some questions I had. As a nurse, it was really neat to offer physical health screenings and spiritual care at the same time.
One of the homes we visited didn’t seem much like a home—it was an old school bus with some curtains hung in the windows and a wooden lean-to attached to it. I was surprised when a young teenage girl answered the “door.” While there were no medical needs, I asked about her spiritual health and then was able to share the gospel. Then remembering my training I asked her “Is there anything keeping you from trusting Christ right now?” She said there wasn’t and placed her trust in Jesus Christ right then and there!
Praise the Lord for His grace in her life … and thank God for the ACT111 training!
