I’m reluctant to put myself out as a model for Christianity because I know me … I know myself too well. I know my weaknesses and my failings. Why in the world would someone that all powerful want me in heaven?
But I’m not reluctant to tell you about EvanTell. I’m thankful for what the ministry has taught me and so many others. I was raised in a works-based religion and taught that you work your way to heaven. The great score board in the sky was a bad one. It felt like the Eagles/Cowboys game … every time I looked up I was 7 points further behind. And at certain points I thought, “Lord can we just end the game right here? I’m not gonna stage any 3rd or 4th quarter comebacks. I’m losin’ here.”
The truth is we are not capable of working our way to heaven. Imagine the greatest thing you have ever done and where it fits on God’s scale … my goodness. I pray to God that I don’t get justice … I pray for mercy. I’m so thankful for an organization that simply teaches the correctness of the Bible to help people like me understand that your salvation is based on trust in Jesus alone.
